$26,000 Grant from TPRF Aids Flood Victims in Ecuador

$26,000 Grant from TPRF Aids Flood Victims in EcuadorTPRF has donated $26,000 to Montañas de Esperanza or Mountains of Hope (MdE), a local non-profit in northern Ecuador, to provide relief to flood victims in the coastal village of Santa Lucia. The grant will supply 32 tons of vital food supplies to feed 1,500 families (c.7,500 people) for one month. This will be one of the largest deliveries of aid to flood victims by a non-government agency on the Ecuadorian coast to date.

Leaders in several Quechuan villages in Ecuador have requested DVDs featuring Prem Rawat’s Words of Peace presentations in their own language after introductory events were held there. This is the first time they have been available in Quechua in the rural and remote mountain settlements where that is the primary language. One village leader said, “This message is very beautiful. It helps the families here stay together, and that is why I want the message to stay in the community.”

TPRF Contributes Food Aid to Kenyan RefugeesTPRF responded quickly to aid Kenya victims of the violence that erupted following the December 2007 elections by making a contribution to the Friends of the World Food Program (FWFP) to help the UN World Food Programme (WFP) provide food for the 3,000 displaced Kenyans for three months. “TPRF’s generous contribution will help save hundreds of lives and prevent under-nutrition and hunger rates from skyrocketing,” said Karen Sendelback, President and CEO of Friends of WFP.

TPRF Funds Breakfast Program for Aboriginal Children in Taiwan
A grant from TPRF will provide nutritious breakfasts for 530 aboriginal children attending 14 primary schools on islands and in remote mountain areas of Taiwan. The program is offered by the Eastern Culture Foundation (ECF) and the Eastern Charity Foundation. CEO of ECF, Kuo Shiang, Chang, expressed “grateful appreciation” to TPRF for joining ECF “to accomplish this task together.”

Recently, TPRF held two eye clinics for India’s poor and received high praise from attending physicians. Over six days, in Jaipur and Delhi, doctors gave free consultations and supplies to more than 3,400 patients, providing eye drops and eyeglasses. A patient, Vimla Sharma, said, “The doctors treated me with such care, thoroughness and kindness. This kind of treatment is hard to find.”

TPRF Provides Disaster Relief to Mexico's Flood's Victims
A grant from TPRF will provide water, food and other necessities to families caught in a flood that has left nearly half the State of Tabasco under water. TPRF is partnering with the Mexican nonprofit organization Compartimos Bienestar y Salud Para Los Niños Maya I.A.P. to deliver survival kits to stranded families in isolated areas that government agencies and other relief organizations have so far been unable to reach.
