'The Greatest Play on Earth' - Maharaji

It is often said that this world is a stage. We can sit down and watch the play or get up on stage and see if we can do it better. Maharaji says we can also do something else, and that is to enjoy this life, this existence. He says that peace has everything to do with enjoyment—enjoyment of the greatest play on earth.

'Ultimate Gift' - MaharajiWhen complexity is removed, Maharaji says, beauty is there. Clarity is what we want, and it is within. The heart, he says, is full of answers without questions, and we can accept these answers rather than the answers the world is trying to give. The challenge in life, he says, is to understand the beauty that lies within and to have access to it whenever we want.

Only One Place - Maharaji in Dublin

thumb_1_23Society, Maharaji says, tells people mostly about what they do not have. He, by contrast, travels the world telling people about what they already have. The magic in existence, he says, can be found, not in what we have or do not have, but in what we can feel. That place within where we can feel, he says, is the place from which we can understand. There is only one place where the possibility exists to take on the challenge of fulfilling one's self—not on the outside, but on the inside.

Catch the wind - Maharaji

MaharajiMaharaji speaks of an infinite mine of peace that resides within every person. This peace, he says, has been talked about throughout history. The suffering that everyone is trying to run away from, he says, has also always been talked about. What people do not want and what people do want is within them. For each person, the question is: "Will today be the day when I do that which will bring me gratitude? Shouldn't today be the day I have been waiting for all my life?" In this life, Maharaji says, it is possible to be fulfilled, to be at peace.

A Gift Unparalleled - Maharaji

thumb_1_20Maharaji speaks of the story of every human being. As long as breath comes into a person, he says, the story is evolving. A certain part of the story is dependent on the person: real joy, happiness, contentment, looking within, and finding answers. We can, he says, feel the ultimate contentment; we can feel peace. It is possible to make this breath, this day, this life count. This, he says, is a gift unparalleled.

The Possibility of Peace - Maharaji

Maharaji in MilanIn this address to an audience of more than 3,000, Maharaji speaks of the need for peace. This need, he says, is like water to the desert, wind to a sailboat, flowing to a river. Just like the moon needs the sun to shine, we need peace in our lives. Peace, he says, has nothing to do with war, and war has nothing to do with peace. It is not the absence of one thing, he says, that creates the presence of another. The possibility to be fulfilled exists, says Maharaji, and we owe it to ourselves: we must have peace in our life.

Maharaji'’s message hailed as “unique”by Chief Executive of Universal Forum of Cultures

Barcelona, Spain, June 15. On June 14, Prem Rawat, known also as Maharaji, addressed an audience of more than 2,000 at an event endorsed by the Universal Forum of Cultures. The Forum, expected to attract 5 million visitors over 141 days, promotes three themes: cultural diversity, sustainable development, conditions for peace. Attended by many world leaders, it consists of conferences and congresses and is geared toward reflection.

The Forum promoted Prem Rawat’s visit as an “associated event,” a coveted label reserved for events directly related to a core theme of the Forum.

Introducing him, Dr. Pages, Chief Executive Officer of the Forum, declared: “Prem Rawat’s message is unique: he talks about peace from a human perspective and highlights the importance for every single human being to create the necessary conditions for peace in the world.” For Linda Pascotto, President of The Prem Rawat Foundation: “Prem Rawat is a leading voice for peace and we are pleased that the Forum, which seeks to establish a culture of peace throughout the world, decided to join forces with him.”

The principles and values of the Forum are based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and United Nations program principles. Forum organizers intend to disseminate UN principles through associated initiatives like the event with Prem Rawat.

At the United Nations Conference Center in Bangkok, Thailand, he expressed, “Peace needs to be in everyone’s life. There is one thing we have never given a chance. That one thing is peace. The peace that we are looking for is within. It is in the heart, waiting to be felt. It is not the world that needs peace; it is people. When people in the world are at peace within, the world will be at peace. What I offer people is not just talk,” he says, “but a way to go inside and savor the peace that is within.”

The dissemination of his message in 88 countries and 70 languages is supported by voluntary contributions and the sale of related materials. He supports himself and his family through independent means.

Maharaji - "The Joy of Being Alive

MaharajiDuring an address to an audience of more than 6,500 people, Maharaji speaks of a peace that already lies within each person. The idea that peace is within, he says, has become alien, and the idea that the answers we look for on the outside are within has also become alien. Wherever we are in this life, he says, we carry a huge box within that is full of joy, and it is possible to get in touch with it. This joy, he says, is the joy of existence-not the joy of what is happening in existence, but the simple joy of being alive.

Maharaji - A Life Complete

MaharajiAddressing an audience of more than 6,500 during a two-day event, Maharaji speaks of the breath that, he says, "comes into you heralding the possibility of immeasurable joy." He then speaks of this "you", which allows a person to be everything they are and will be. He points to this "you" as a key ingredient missing in the world's formula for happiness. He says that a person's responsibility is first and foremost to this "you" and to what you have been given. To recognize what has been given, he says, is the first step to having a life complete.

Maharaji – Discovering What We Have Been Given

thumb_1_14Maharaji speaks at a resort amphitheater where over 3,000 people have gathered to hear him. He reminds the audience that the breath, the heart, the life within do not judge. To find joy, he says, requires more than knowing where we don't want to be, but rather, knowing where we do want to be. Discovering the place of joy within, he says, is a matter of being clear about what we want, seeing the possibility for joy, trusting ourselves.

One Peace - Maharaji in Ljubljana

Maharaji in LjubljanaThere are two questions that I hear from people again and again. "Why am I here in this world?" and  "Who am I?" Two very fascinating questions. The most important one is, "Who am I?" If I can understand that, I can also understand why am I here.

The world constantly pushes labels onto us. “You are so-and-so.” It started in school with the teacher calling attendance. Is that who I am? A name? Or am I what I do? Am I a doctor or a lawyer or a captain? A graduate of this or that school?

On one hand, I have a body with blood, cells, nerves, brain, eyes—all of that. Then, distinctly inside of me, there is something that is allowing me to exist. The feeling that it brings is not only the feeling of being alive, but the feeling of being in peace. It brings the feeling of joy, of tranquility. There is something that stays untouched by everything that happens around me. I get affected by good days and bad days; the thing that is keeping me alive is apart from all of that. This is who I am. I’m not just my body, and I’m not just my accomplishments. I’m more. All of that put together is who I am.

MaharajiIt comes back to what is important. There is an option in life to be fulfilled. Good and bad will happen. That’s not the point. When it is raining outside and you open up an umbrella, the purpose of the umbrella is not to make the clouds go away. All the umbrella does is to prevent you from getting wet as much as it can. Your feet might get wet, but it will at least keep your head dry. That’s what fulfillment is like.

A lot of people think fulfillment will change the whole world for them. It won’t. What it will do is let you know where your true home is. The reality is that peace is within me whether I am a beggar or I’m a king. It doesn't matter to peace. We see such a big difference between the two—a beggar and a king. But think about it. What does the beggar really dream of? Becoming a king. And what does a king dream of? “I wish my life was simple like that beggar.”

So different, yet so similar. Both are looking for peace. The beggar thinks, “If I become the king, I will have peace.” And the king says, “If I become the beggar, I will have peace.” These are differences that we have created.

There is one simple similarity we all share. Peace is within all of us. And if we want, we can experience that.
